Here is a relatively new piece of work. At this point I'm spending a lot of time in my studio at 1103 Union street in making my new line and making more of the oldies but still popular pieces. This summer has a number of events and courses I'll be offering in the Jewellery world.

I found this beautiful ramp out side the Vancouver court house durring the Olympics. I 'd like to make it a symbol for what I'm learning these day about the mind and all the differences that the current research on the autisim spectrum and Learning Disablities is uncovering

Yesterday I met a photographer outside my studio taking pictures of the Magnolia tree that lives outside the building. He said that he posts pictures of flowers and plants on filcker and some times gets paid for it, I thought Wow what a great life taking pictures of beautiful flowers and plants I do this all the time my computer has hundereds stored on . Almost everyone would agree that flowers are beautiful . I've spent my life trying to create things that are beautiful. Now at this stage in my life I think beauty is that defining moment inside that says "that beautiful" which can be a lot of things for many people. It is the frequency in which the moment occurs which is important.

It is time to upload some more pictures of some old and recent work. The blue cloisonne piece has a 14kt pin stem and sold over Christmas at van Yperen Jewellers in Vancouver. The second picture I like because the picture is nicer that the painting I did while I was on holiday in Clearwater BC. If I can find the picture of the cloisonne Echinaca prayer box I did I will up load that also.

Currently I'm still making jewellery but taking an educational assitant program at Langara College. In the last I completed my first practicum at a high shool in Vancouver. Oh what a suprise highschool was. It did cure my lateness to things. Fortunately I was able to work in three classes with childern who have varrious levels of Developemental disablities and learning disablities. Perhaps I was lucky to have been over looked at least I was included in every oppertunity that was presented I may not have qualified for say the vollyball team but i was never excluded for trying.

Floor show Belt Buckle

This an old piece I made back in the eighties while at Harbourfront in Toronto it was in a group exhibition called the Floor Show. This summer I 've been invited to make a new buckel for Diana Sanderson's Show on Granville island. The show is called Buckles Baubles and Buttons. It should be exciting. I'll keep you posted as to when the dates are .

Drawing class

This drawing was done in first term. I like it because it reminds me of someone looking at herself in a mirror. Today was the last class of drawing. It will be along time before I'll do anymore life drawing most likely. Life drawing is so good it very much demands your there in the moment there is no time to think of anything else but the marks your making the shadows your seeing, the light, the lines your looking at the desire to get it all done and the image your creating in such a short period of time. It is probably the most demanding thing I do but so worth it.

Two years ago during the East Side Cultural Crawl a man came to visit my studio and we sat on a quite Sunday morning talking about what it was like to be an artist. He had a large successful advertising company downtown but really missed creating your own art, his wife told him he should give it all up to paint. He told me that I was the one that got away because I was till doing it. I told him I still had no money to speak of.
Recently I have started to feel yes like the one who did get away and to be eternally grateful for it.
Especailly since I have started to do these painted landscapes. I go search out a great view with my folding chair then I sit and draw for a study I'll take home and paint. There is incredible freedom in this because I 'm choosing what to draw what is important or beautiful for me. Nothing unexpected difficult or disrupting goes in my Landscapes.
I'll share them with you when they are done.

These are pictures of some of the Jewellery I have made. The piece on the right is a sterling silver bracelet with a piece of natural coral.

The singular pendant is cloisonne enamel with a

smoky quarts.

The bottom neck piece is created from a set of bone trade beads with Budhist inscriptions. The clasp was hand made with a piece of Baltic amber set in it. The work was strung with amber and hemitite beads.

This image is of a foggy day in White Rock with a lone eagle looking out into a barely visible sea. It seems like a perfect metaphor for my life these days.
